Artist's Comments

A try at using reference picture for digital work. This is my first serious try at it, as I find it rather awkward (the amount of flipping back and forth, really). But I think this turned out alright.

I had problems with the right side of the face, so it got hidden. The hair is rather cruddy because I didn't reference it. The shirt is simple because I didn't reference that either. There are problems with the neck, because I just couldn't seem to get the colouring right. *sigh* Ah well, it's a start.

Beautiful! Her expression is so gentle. That stock photo is very bland, but you gave her life. She's looking at something fondly. The hair could use work but I say be proud of this!

Well that's great! Since her face and smile is the focal point anyway, it is not so bad to leave the rest less detailed. Very good effort!

Thanks a lot. It makes me kind of wish I had done a background of some sort, to give a clue at what she might be looking at. Oh well.

Thanks very much! I'm glad that I didn't do too badly, then, leaving the rest less-detailed. I'm glad it helps the picture instead of detracts.
